4th Grade Energy Fair

On Tuesday, October 31st, our 4th grade students did a phenomenal job presenting their Renewable Energy Fair Presentations to our school community. After having learned about the various energy sources, students selected a country to research and proposed a sustainable energy plan for that country to transition to more renewable energy. Each group presented their information in a clear and confident manner and it was great to see them apply their newly acquired learning to the world around them!

The Big Dump

On Friday, November 10th, our 5th and 6th students had the opportunity to attend the powerful documentary “The Big Dump” with their classroom teachers at Coronado High School. “The Big Dump” sheds light on the urgent Pacific Ocean crisis stemming from the Mexican border into San Diegan waters. Millions of gallons of sewage spill down the coast every day. This film exposes the devastating impact of untreated sewage on marine life, ecosystems, and coastal communities, while advocating for sustainable solutions and stricter regulations. In an effort to promote civic activism, students who attended will be following up with action plans and public campaign activities on addressing the problem that is affecting our local coastal waters.

Attendance Matters!

Students need to be at school every day and on time. Please make sure your child is here by 8:40 AM and lined up on the blacktop. Let’s continue to improve our attendance! If your child must be out sick, please contact the office at (619) 422-8381 or priscilla.reyes@cvesd.org to excuse the absence. Remember to bring a doctor’s note. Vacations, dentist, and doctor visits should be scheduled during our breaks whenever possible. If your child misses school, they are missing out on important learning! Our school staff will be meeting with parents/guardians, calling home, and doing home visits for students who are chronically absent.
